42 omc cobra lower unit diagram

I’ve read many posts here and elsewhere about the OMC Cobra I/O situation. People were saying to avoid them even 10+ years ago because of parts and service availability. All that certainly isn’t better now. Actually had one years ago on a project boat that I never finished and felt lucky to sell. Vowed to never buy an I/O boat with anything but a Volvo or Merc again. Anyway, looking at a nice boat, well cared for, everything works...but it’s got an OMC Cobra. The boat would’ve sold already if i... I am finding metal shavings in my outdrive and I found a couple larger size pieces of metal. The outdrive seems to be functioning properly going in and out of gear both forward and reverse with no problems. I don’t hear any issues with it. I am just trying to figure out where of why this metal is in there. I was told that the boat had the gimbal bearing go previously and that the gimbal bearing race broke off in chunks. Is it possible that this metal is from that?

Omc cobra lower unit diagram

Working on a no spark. I have 7+ volts on positive side of coil. Voltage coming out of my coil to the distributor. I took my distributor cap off and turned over engine with starter. It seems to be turning very slow. I’m wondering it that is normal? Omc cobra lower unit diagram. I have a OMC 454 King Cobra on a Whaler. I am running into an issue with it when I am bringing the boat to speed. Once I cross around 3,000 RPMs I hear what sounds like a backfire from carb. An idea on causes here or troubleshooting tips to resolve? No issues at the 3,000 RPM without load or running under that. Thanks My Four Winns 200 keeps putting PS fluid into the bilge and I can’t find the leak. Steering starts to bind every 2-3 rides then I have to fill the reservoir. Up front and around pump looks clean. I can’t find anything.
